Cute Thing of the Day: My Grandparents
I have the sweetest grandparents in the world. They are simply adorable.
They also have a really cool centerpiece on their table right now, and my grandmother (I call her Oma) is very proud of it. It’s a little merry-go-round surrounded by candles. When the candles are lit, their heat makes all the little people inside spin around. It’s like something from The Nutcracker. In...
Christmas Mixtape
I was going to burn this, paint pen some cd’s, and mail them to everyone as Christmas cards. But, I just don’t have the time or money. Here’s what would have been on your mixtape.
“O Tannenbaum”- Vince Guaraldi Trio
“White Winter Hymnal”-Fleet Foxes
“Balkan Lowrider Anthem”-Alaska in Winter
“The Fox in the Snow”- Belle &...
Cute thing of the Day: Christmas Edition
Since my grandparents couldn’t make the trip down to Georgia this year, my family decided to skype them using my aunt’s computer and my computer. Both sides of the conversation consistently shouted at the computer (even though the mic was picking them up just fine) and kept asking if we could see them or not. My dad tried to get us to end the call with some Christmas carols but he...
Cute Things of the Day
The things my parents think are funny. Honestly, after watching “Four Christmases” as family, we are now watching the Jay Leno Show, and they think it’s hysterical. It’s kind of cute to watch, my mom repeats whatever was funny about a scene (even though she’s seen “Four Christmases” before), and they both laugh at really weird jokes. It must be a...

New Celebrity Crush? And other oddities
I’m not proud of this, but tonight, while I was knitting scarves, I decided to join my mother in watching her favorite reality show, Survivor. I know that’s not hip with the kids, but as long as I am being a scarf factory, I might as well be entertained. But, while watching the show, I think I may have acquired a new celebrity crush, Brett Clouser.
Not only is he cute, but...
Important Update: I Found Jesus
He was behind my little sister’s senior picture a foot or so away from the nativity scene. My little sister helped me find him, and I felt kind of bad for hiding him without her the first time. So, she came up with a suitable relocation for the baby Jesus in a bowl of glass ornaments in the living room.
Mom has not commented on his absence.
Finding Jesus
It is a sort of unofficial Christmas tradition in my family that my little sister and I steal the baby Jesus from our family nativity scene, hide him somewhere in the house, and return him on Christmas eve. The only problem this year is that I do not remember where I hid him… I need to find Jesus.
Arts and Crafts Round Two!
A search of the interwebs revealed that there is an ebay store that still prints the Emma’s House shirts… I am super skeptical of their legitimacy, but they seem to be the most legit source of a Field Mice shirt so far.
I have also recruited my little sister (who is much better at drawing and such than me) to help with the stenciling project!!! It will not start until after Christmas...
Arts and Crafts?
I found some instructions for how to make freezer-paper stencils on craftster the other day, and I kind of want to try it. I have been on the lookout for an “Emma’s House” shirt for quite some time now, and I’m pretty sure I could make a stencil to make my own… is that super illegal/unethical (if I just make one for me)?
I am leaning heavily towards yes… but...

Global Warming and Water in Peru! →
I’ve been to a lot of those places, and water is an issue. But, what they don’t mention is that the last time I checked (a year or so ago) the Peruvian government looses something like 40% of their water via really old pipes. The wealthy have their water as is, and the Peruvian oligarchy historically doesn’t seem terribly interested in the well being of the Peruvian poor....
Cute Thing of the Day: Final Exams Edition
One of the kind-of-hipster-but-not-in-an-unbearable-way kids in my epi class showed up for the exam in a hot pink sweatband today. He proceeded to run around the room giving everyone high fives, trying to “pump us up”. Just before the exams were passed out, he stood up in front of the class and lead the entire class in the hokey pokey. Some people were kind of bewildered, but a lot...
Look, I don’t speak hipster gibberish.

AMAZING
There was a cute thing of yesterday!!! And today?
Yesterday:
The classroom that my theory class meets in has an awkwardly located window that looks out into the hallway at about shoulder height. I was in the middle of a group meeting and happened to be making and amazingly awkward face when my friend Roger walked by. He def stuck his face in the window, but I wasn’t sure if he saw me or not. Then he came back a few seconds later, stuck...
